Our client, based in Queensland, Australia, sought a compact, sustainable dwelling solution for coastal hinterland propertya space that could serve as a guest studio, home office, or minimalist retreat. The key requirements were durability in a humid subtropical climate, efficient use of limited space, and seamless indoor-outdoor integration.

Product Design & Specifications

Dimensions: 5.95m (L) × 3.3m (W) × 3.3m (H) – optimizing transportability under Australian road regulations.

Structural Highlights:

  Clean white exterior cladding (reflective thermal-coated panels) to reduce heat absorption.

  Distinctive pitched roof (triangular profile) ensuring rapid rainwater runoffcritical for monsoon-prone regions.

  Elevated foundation with corrosion-resistant steel stumps for airflow and pest prevention.

Interior Layout

The 19.6㎡ interior is configured into three functional zones:

1. Sleeping Area: Single bed (built-in storage underneath) positioned to capture morning light via side window.

2. Wet Unit: Compact bathroom with water-saving shower, toilet, and vanity; integrated plumbing pre-tested before delivery.

3. Living/Cooking Space:

   Galley-style kitchenette with induction cooktop, mini-fridge, and composite stone countertop.

   Foldable wall-mounted desk adjacent to large sliding glass door, enabling workspace conversion.


Outdoor Integration

Front Deck: 3.3m × 1m freestanding deck with FSC-certified (pressure-treated timber), finished with anti-slip coating.

Design Logic: The deck extends living space visually, creates a transitional buffer zone, and elevates the structure above ground moisture. Roof overhang (0.8m) shelters 70% of deck area.
